Four Missing Parts Of Failed Startup Websites

By Martin Johnson

Your start-up has gone from being a simple idea to something that is ready for the public to see, which is why you need a website -pronto!

You may already be mentally driving the car of your dreams, and planning an IPO, but now is the time to take a deep breath because if you get this step wrong you may have to put your dreams on hold.

Focus on the end goal or desired action

Websites exist for many different reasons so you need to think about what the end goal of your website is going to be. Is to generate sales, capture leads, educate and inform, or none of the above?

Websites exist for various reasons because each site has a different end goal in mind. Google has a different end goal to Amazon and Amazon has a different end goal to Facebook. That is because they generate revenue in different ways.

Sticky brand

Websites convey messages to your audience on a subconscious level so the message of your brand flows through all the elements of your design, which may require the experience of a professional designer.

Instead, your brand needs to flow around your site and touch all the areas of it. The way you write the content to the tone of your emails.

By embracing your brand and having it flow through the whole site, you'll leave a lasting impression on your visitors, who may decide that like what you stand for and fall in love with your product.

Focus on ALL screen sizes

The easier you make it for people to consume your content the more likely they are to connect with you and buy your product or service. Usually referred to as removing friction.

If you ignore the mobile market and make your website difficult to consume, while, on the go, people may just ignore your message and first impressions last a lifetime.

Unless You Are An Expert, Hire One

If you have identified your website goal and understand the importance of the internet for your business then don't skimp on the details.

They will have the experience to guide you on what you should and shouldn't do, depending on the end goal of your site, which will save you an immeasurable amount of money in the long run.
