Upgraded Walkers With Four Wheels For Seniors

By Michelle Hughes

As people, age so does the functions of its body and the strength decreases as time passes by. It reduces the mobility and ability to have balance as a person grows old. Cranes can be utilized by those that are not completely weakened by time, but for other senior citizens and a handicapped person, they seek the assistance of walkers to get on with their daily lives.

In 1953, the first patented apparatus that aids senior citizens were established and named walker. It was a steel frame that helps an aged person to walk and balance around by utilizing this equipment. Next is, the evolution of the item by the addition of two wheels in front of the frame to include movability, and to this present day walkers with four wheels for seniors are devised with extra extensibility.

Walkers from the past require arm strength for incapacitated and elderly citizens in order to pick the device up and forward. Dragging the item makes it less comfortable for aged people to utilize more particularly the disabled ones that are not able to do such operation. Cases of strained and fatigued arms have been taken into consideration in enhancing the material for a more easier and efficient use.

Then the two wheeled walkers were invented to improved the utilization of the previous model for walking exercises removing arm stresses and eased the apparatus for dragging purposes. With the help of the two rollators at the front of its steel frame improved movability compared to its followed designs acquiring minimal force, energy, and enjoyable experience for the senior community.

Still, the improvements on the walker were just a beginning of a newer enhancement. Manufacturers wanted a completely pleasing experience and more usefulness to the apparatus, that is where they added a portable seat. By completely placing four wheels on the device, it improved the dragging capabilities of the instrument compared to former designs and added more practicality where both disabled and old citizens can use.

It had a modification that included a seat where a senior individual can sit on after a long walk. Aside from being portative, is does not occupy a huge space around homes and can be put between spaces. Plain and practical unlike the other models that it followed

Aside from having a seat, it also includes a storage area just beneath the seat. In some parts of the world, grown up children tend to leave their homes at the age of 18 or 21 leaving parents to grow old with their partners or in other cases alone. Having storage area in this device allows them to carry their items around without exerting too much effort.

Same goes for the disabled people, particularly those who are not capable enough to move can employ walkers with far advanced functionality. An additional mechanical engine similar to a car, allows a disabled person to walk around just by controlling an analog on its handle. Similar storage functionalities are present to its equipment making their lives easier.

Even with this kind of enhancements, the development of the device continues as it considers other issues that old and disabled citizens might encounter. Right now, there are start up projects that allow a walker or automated rollators to be used in staircases. The possibilities for this invention is endless until every situation is to acknowledge the improvement will never stop in order to help those that need the aid.
