Bilingual Strategic Communications Development Process

By Marlene Blevins

Strategic Communication has been established to be the measures that can be taken to facilitate proper planning on advertising, public relations and communications management. If it is available in English and French for example or any other two languages, then it is referred to as Bilingual Strategic Communications. In some jurisdictions, the use of two different dialects is prevalent and this makes it necessary for the firms operating in such areas to correctly prepare their plans in the two languages.

The professional communication laid out in the plan sometimes require professional communicators. This gives the organization or corporation confidence that each and every experience and message send to the clients leaves a good impression. These communicators can be translators who are able to clearly and correct translate between the two languages. They are an integral part of the organization.

A very solid and good foundation is necessary to build up the best of the bilingual communication systems. In addition, good strategies are crucial for growth and better performance. An excellent outline of the different strategies, well stated mission statement and objectives are invaluable to the organisation. Failure to have well outlined communication strategies may have devastating effects as it leads to confusion which will cost the firm a lot of resources including time.

Proper management of the integrated system adopted by the firm bores discipline in the firm. The situation is complicated by existence of two command languages in the same organisation. The presences of adequate plans to take care of the situation, usually bilingual communications systems, make things better. The set management communications may then be fully complied with.

Getting the rights tools is the next step in building a good system. A model of what/who/how should be used. This "what" model gives the experiences together with messages you intent to make. The ways of creating that model is "How" and the individuals to be used in the process constitute the "Who". That is the first step in getting to create a great bilingual communications strategy.

The "what" captures decisions to be made on the reasons consumers should buy products from you and the information about your business that will be shared with the public. On the "How" weaknesses and strengths of different channels of communication at your disposal are explored. The audiences you are targeting are the "Who".

The development process then kicks off. This is a multi-step stage by stage process that begins with the approval of the plan where proofreading of the entire plan is done and the green light for the beginning of the process given. Initiating the project, development of concept and creative development are the next steps to the process. The final thing is to produce and distribute the plans to all the staff in the language they are proficient in. Clearly stated and included in the distributed plans are the governance and the performance metrics.

You need a great and motivated team with the right skills to build this kind of strategic communications for your organization. People with passion on what they do, will do it perfectly and happily. It will also reduce the pressure on the management to appoint a person with excellent strategic communication leadership skills to perform the duties of maintained a good strategic communication system in the organization.
