Radio Over IP To Save The Day

By Bertha Wells

Radio over IP or RoIP is essentially the same as VoIP which became very popular with services for making telephone calls using the Internet. In today's market it is always necessary to have to explain the need for something or to explain the reason for having it. For Radio over IP it is very simple. When a work crew is spread over a large geographic area Radio over IP becomes a service that you feel like you need.

With a standard cellular system as established, your signal bounces off cell towers as it makes its way to where the call is going. If the tower is busy or some sort of interference is occurring then the signal can be and is interrupted. This makes for many lost calls and dropped calls. Something that does not bode well in the business world.

With the RoIP system the infrastructure is the Internet. The Internet is an already established medium that already has a very robust infrastructure in place. The kinks have been worked out and dropped calls are not an issue with the systems in use today. This technology utilizes the Internet for its communications and as a result gets a much better service to the end user.

Cost is also another problem in business. The more of it you have, the less money your company can make. With this type of network the cost is all in the front. Meaning you pay for the phones up front and for the software to run the system. However you do not get poked and prodded every month for various taxes and fees like you would with a cell service regulated by the Federal Government.

The other advantage of these systems is that cable length does not become a factor. In other words, the company deploying the system is using the Internet and software to manage the communications. The system is already in place. The Internet is the system, and as such all the company needs is the phones and software.

Always up is something that many companies like to boast, but it is not something that they can always provide. With these networks your company is the network so you will at least always know what the issue is and never be left in the dark. The Internet being the backbone of your service will allow you a very large area to do business in as well. You will not be limited to small network areas like with some providers.

When it comes down to doing business, communications are a way to either a way to make or break a company or can be called in to save the day. There are often situations in which big decisions need to be made right away or something needs to take place in a moments notice. No company figure head wants to be caught "with their pants down" so-to-speak because they cannot get service to their phone.

Business today often means speed of service and integrity of service. Radio over IP can offer any company both of these. The network that runs the system already exists and the costs are lower in the long run. Add to that the service ration and the fact that communications are almost instant with push to talk and you have a system that almost any business would want.
