Alternative Self Defense From Danger If Not Yet At The Legal Age

By Relph C Soles

I overheard Uncle Donnie try to ask my pops what was better, stun gun or pepper spray for protection. He was aware that our family was utilizing personal protection products, those two types particularly as well as others. We use both primarily because these are non-fatal and also leave no irreversible harm, and their effects, even though fast, fade away shortly.

Daddy started with pepper sprays which were simple to conceal within the hand and could target attackers successfully even from a distance. They either ended up yelling in pain because of the burning feeling to the skin or slamming their own eyes close, or gagging for air.

The initial occasion he had to utilize one, he was surprised that a quick one-second burst from a potent self defense spray, the sort having at least 10 percent concentration of oleoresin capsicum, knocked down a criminal wanting to get his bag.

With much more confidence in using personal protection gadgets, dad tested stun guns. While he also went for the easily handled designs, he chose a low voltage stun weapon for more gentle effects. He cringed the first time he test-fired his stun gun and felt the shock vibrate and electricity sizzle from the prongs.

He learned without doubt that contact with a stun gun is going to knock any assailant off balance or bring about muscle spasms which would make him forget his bad plan. The secret, however, is to have the guts to stick the stun weapon towards a vulnerable part of the body.

While we were younger, our parents were not at ease with allowing us to use defense sprays or stun weapons. But dad thought exposing all of us to instructional fight videos would at least present us with basic know-how to safeguard ourselves in case of trouble in the streets.

They were cheaper than attending lessons and we could all learn at our own pace and practice whenever we desired or got time. The skills we learned seemed simple but were really vicious.

Thus, in my opinion, having street-fighting skills was better than a stun gun or pepper spray for defense while I had yet to reach legal age for making use of either device.
