Does Desktop Or Mobile Long Island SEO Matter More?

To say that Long Island SEO services are expansive would be an understatement, especially when you consider the numerous platforms used to access the Internet. As of late, there has been a growing emphasis on mobile devices like smartphones. In fact, some have argued that these matter more than desktop computers these days. Which platform has more value when ranking for search engine results? Here are a few key points to make note of.

It seems like search engines have been more mobile-focused for about a year now. This change makes sense, especially when you consider that about three-fourths of all adults in the United States are smartphone owners. This is a massive portion of one's audience, so it would make sense for responsive web design to be included amongst other Long Island SEO services. It could also be argued that mobile devices are more convenient than the computers we use at school, work, or home. You don't have to worry about being disconnected from the world, as all it takes is opening the browser on your phone to see what the Internet has to offer. It wouldn't be far-fetched for someone to set their laptop aside after a long day, only to use their phone for research and buying purposes. If you think that this negates the need for desktop platforms, though, you'd be wrong.

Despite what you may think, or have been told, desktop deserves to be the SEO conversation as much as possible. First and foremost, you have to look at customer behavior. If someone researches a product on mobile and eventually makes a purchase on desktop, this is a type of behavior to be addressed. Furthermore, it can be argued that desktop serves to complement mobile platforms and vice versa. In short, desktop isn't going anywhere.

While we are on the subject of desktop versus mobile platforms, let's look at bounce rate. For the uninitiated, this is an indicator of how many people visit a site, only to click away after a short time. Whereas mobile users tend to leave sites as soon as they arrive, desktop users seem to be more drawn in. As a result, the latter will yield a more positive statistic to report on. Bounce rate plays an important role in SEO, so keep this in mind for the future.
