Have Control Over Your Daily Blogging Efforts

By Tennant Neil

If you are new to the field of blogging, you are not alone. Just a few years ago, the term didn't even exist. Today, it has become a standard feature of every business website. Blogging can be an invaluable way to connect with customers and promote your products in a personal and conversational way.

There's an old rule that says, in order to make money, you have to spend money and that's true, even when it comes to blogging. If you take some money and put it aside for purchasing advertising, such as Google adwords or Yahoo ads, then your website will receive that much more traffic and exposure.

If possible, have someone else go over your blog posts before you post them. This is especially critical for internet marketing posts. People have a tendency to be blind to their own errors, so they will often miss problems with grammar, spelling, sequence, or logic. Another person may also be able to provide information you have left out or correct errors of fact.

Keep tabs on other bloggers who cover the same topics as you do, and be sure that you stay ahead of them. These blogs are your direct competitors. Like any business, knowing your competition is the best way to beat them. Your competition will no doubt be doing the same.

Try participating in some online group projects. Attempt to do some collaborative writing challenges online. You can do things like guest blogging, or even writing some e-books. It can be a very productive learning experience. It's also great for promotion and it can help you experiment with various writing styles.

Create a handful of blog posts that you keep in a special file for emergency use. Use them when you are ill, or have some other situation that prevents you from having the time or energy to write quality content. Doing so will provide your readers with regularity, while allowing you time to deal with your situation.

Use stirring titles that will generate responses or debates. Make your titles intriguing enough to entice your readers to continue reading, and voice their opinion, or ask questions that beg the reader to include their thoughts. Do not be drawn into conflict whenever possible, but moderate the conversation with your own input.

One of the easiest ways to start a new blog is to sign up for a free WordPress account. The free version isn't as robust as the version you would install on your own web space, but it still has many features that can get you up and running easily. If you have your own domain name, you can use the DNS tools at your registrar to point the domain name to your WordPress site.

Now you know that a blog is not only useful as a sales tool, but as a fun way to do business, increase awareness, or simply find your voice. The people you work with, work for and others will all be happy with the time you spend keeping them entertained and in the know. Apply the methods laid out in this article, and have fun interacting with other people.
