The Biggest Recently Partnerships By An Internet Marketing Firm

By Robert Sutter

Growth is, without question, a crucial component of any business. It's easy to see that they have to branch out and one of the best ways to do this is through partnerships. Not only is this useful but any Internet marketing firm can tell you that such a method has provided a number of examples in recent memory. For those who are curious about what these partnerships were all about, these talking points should be able to draw attention to the idea.

One of the biggest, in my view, was when Yahoo purchased the microblogging network known as Tumblr. This was done back in May of last year and to say that it was notable would have been an understatement. Given the fact that Tumblr caters to a strong audience, it made sense that Yahoo would purchase it, allowing the company in question to get into the social media business by proxy. The acquisition in question cost Yahoo $1.1 billion.

Back in February of this year, WhatsApp was purchased by Facebook. For those who many not be familiar with WhatsApp or its functionality, all you have to know is that it serves as an instant messaging platform with the Internet being used as its facilitator of sorts. It was during this month, however, that Facebook announced its purchase of WhatsApp for a staggering sum of $19 billion. I believe that very few can overlook the importance of this acquisition on the part of Facebook.

In an effort to bolster its own catalog, as firms like fishbat can attest to, Microsoft purchased the independent game company known as Mojang. While many people, on the outside, may not know what Mojang is, they may be familiar with the company once they understand that it developed the popular video game, "Minecraft." In essence, then, Microsoft owns "Minecraft" and can do with the IP as it pleases. With the importance of content illustrated by any Internet marketing firm, this purchase made back in September is yet another noteworthy one.

These are just a few of the most noteworthy purchases, in recent memory, when regarding social media. Business, as stated earlier, possess the desire to grow and become even better than they already are. Acquisitions and partnerships alike are able to go about this, which has been illustrated by examples like the ones mentioned earlier. If you are someone who considers themselves not only social media but business-savvy, these examples cannot be overlooked.
