Finding Different Las Vegas Events For New Tourists

By Patty Goff

Las Vegas, sometimes called just Vegas, is the capital city of Nevada, and a popular tourist destination. The reputation of the city has often focused on its many casinos and gambling venues. However, there are many other Las Vegas Events which are held there every year which also attract tourists. These events include live shows, sports events and various performances by artists.

Many people like doing water sports; however, being in the desert, the beach is not very close by. So, to get some water activity, many visitors go to the Bellagio, where they have a large, Italian villa, with an indoor fountain. Guests can spend the day at the fountain and enjoy getting wet, which can be a cool relief from the hot sun.

If you enjoy sports, there are many sporting events that are held in Las Vegas NV every year. The city has a long history of hosting big boxing matches, with such well-known fighters as Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and Floyd Mayweather. Also, mixed martial arts (MMA) fighting has also become increasingly popular in recent years, with originations such as the UFC and Bellator holding events in the city quite often. Many of these events are held at the Mandalay Bay Resort.

Weddings are also very popular in Las Vegas. Many people who do not want a traditional wedding, or who just want to elope, travel to the city to get married. There are many wedding chapels in the area, including the Little White Wedding Chapel. This is where Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow got married, so it has become somewhat famous. Many chapels also offer Elvis impersonators for those who like that style of wedding.

Another favorite activity is visiting the bars around the city. There are many popular bars such as Andre Rochat and the Downtown Cocktail Room. For those who prefer shopping, the Strip is a very popular shopping area, with hundreds of stores available. There are also double-decker buses that travel up and down the Strip and also travel to the Downtown area.

Once you have seen your show or performance, you can enjoy some of the other activities the city has to offer. The Hard Rock Hotel has a large swimming pool with sandy beaches and waterfall that allows guests to take a swim when the weather gets too hot. Guests can even swim-up to the pool edge to play blackjack. The hotel also hosts pool parties on many evenings.

Of course, guests also come to city to do some shopping, as there are many boutiques and stores along the Strip. The Strip is very long, and its takes all day to walk from one end to the other. However, visitors can take the double-decker buses to save time. For the kids, Legoland is also nearby.

Throughout the year, the city hosts many popular events, such as boxing matches and MMA fights. If this interests you, you should keep an eye on regular sports news so that you can book your trip at the time of the evens. If you just want to get away from the bright lights and crowds for a while, you can also visit Rancho Drive or the Las Vegas Springs Preserve, which offers botanical gardens, museum exhibits and nature trails.
