How Not To Be Powerless During Perilous Situations

By Trasi O Irby

In a rush to go home, my own cousin, Rina, didn't take note of the guy with a cigarette between his lips standing along her way. She walked into a wide chest and a sneer. Alarm bells rang within her head. Staggering back, she obtained a small gadget coming from her pocket. A couple of seconds later, the man was rubbing his own eyes, howling in pain and also coughing.

It is not your usual pepper spray for women, but my cousin has a 2 oz. defense spray stream. While almost all personal defense items are non-fatal, Rina likes pepper spray as it does not require direct contact to work. Any physical reaction is quick, but short-lived, and there isn't any permanent damage towards the target.

Although quite handy, hers is a strong pepper spray having a concentrated formulation rated with 2 million Scoville heat units. Even with just a one- or two-second burst, the effects are intense.

An older cousin from Los Angeles introduced us to self-defense sprays. Jane at the moment has a oz self defense spray with colored leatherette holster, hooked to her own bag strap for quick access. This emits fine grains of pepper formulated to go into the skin much better.

The very first time she used it, Jane panicked. She groped for the actuator, and managed to make a direct strike to the face, and felt victorious after being able to see the man's response.

His eyes closed very quickly upon contact. He then let loose an excruciating shout. Jane mentioned she could pretty much feel the burning sensation on the skin.

Her experience prompted all of us cousins to acquire self defense sprays and learn how to utilize them. I recently obtained a pink 5-in-1 personal defense system. It is about as big as a mobile phone and doesn't only have defense spray but likewise an alarm and strobe light.

This is the perfect pepper spray for women - or me, at least. The 125dB alarm is going to call attention while the strobe light can initially blind the opponent and prepare you for spraying the target.
