Five Services You Can Offer As A Writer

By Marenda Taylor

When it comes to offering writing services, there are lots of different ways to generate more revenue, both through writing and other value-added services. In this article we're going to look at five ways you can make more money by expanding your writing services.

Of course the most obvious service you'll be providing as a writer is, in fact, writing. Whether you're writing web content, ebooks or other types of content, you're doing a service for people who don't have time to write or just aren't interested in doing it themselves.

But there are a bunch of other related services that you can often add to the mix, increasing your profit in the process. One of the obvious ones is market and/or keyword research.

If you offer article writing for people who are using the content on their websites, you could also offer keyword and market research to those same people. Instead of your clients doing the initial research and handing you the topics to write on, you could do it all - generate a keyword list, find the best affiliate offers, write the articles and so on.

Article spinning is another service that is often popular with people looking for web content. Whatever your personal opinion on spinning might be, there are lots of people who use it as part of their content strategy.

Why not make spinning an add-on service for your articles? It can be a time consuming process, so many marketers will pay well for a spinning service if you can provide high-quality spins.

On a similar note, you could also offer graphics and web design services to compliment your writing. Rather than simply write a report for someone, you could write the report, create a minisite layout, make cover graphics and various other things.

You can even sub-contract this work out to other people if you're not comfortable doing it yourself. Good writers are typically harder to find than graphics designers, partly because of language barriers, so you can often earn a profit on this work by outsourcing it and marking up the cost when you pass it on to your customer.

Look beyond the writing itself, at all the processes involved in marketing. This can give you lots of ideas for further services you can offer your customers. With a little work, you could become a one-stop shop for all their content creation needs.
